Reporting to:  Operations Director
Direct Reports:  
      • Mechanical (which includes a Foreman, Boilermakers, Welders, Fitters and Assistants),
      • Electrical (which includes a Foreman, Electricians, Handyman and Assistants),
      • Diesel workshop,
      • Maintenance Planning and stores.
 
The Head of Maintenance will look after the maintenance and upkeep including daily maintenance issues, project work, development work, breakdown repair, shutdown planning and control.
The role also includes working to stay on budget, coordinating and fitting in with terminal operations, maintaining discipline and ensuring that the departments are adequately resourced.

Requirements
  • Competent Person as defined by the General Machinery Regulations.
  • Government Engineers Certificate of Competency in Mechanical.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in a large industrial environment.
  • Electrical heavy and light current installation and maintenance is essential.
  • Prior Mechanical handling industry experience will be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience in PLC programmes, SCADA systems and automation.
  • Excellent computer skills including spreadsheet manipulation and report writing.
  • Ability to fault find at pace and to teach others how to minimize delays due to breakdowns.
  • Excellent people management skills in facilitation as well as leadership roles
  • Must maintain Professional accreditation status, membership of recognized bodies and keep up to date with advances in technology.
  • Exceptional communication, planning, organizing, relationship building and analytical skills  
  • Initiative to work independently, often under tight deadlines.
